This panel will include information on challenges related to environmental permitting and compliance for lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling facilities. A brief overview of LIB recycling processes and associated air emissions, wastewater discharges and wastes will be reviewed. Panelists will discuss the evolving regulatory structure, potentially applicable air, waste and water regulations, implications of industrial classifications and control technologies. Recent USEPA guidance and updates on the status of proposed regulations under RCRA will be highlighted. State initiatives and regulatory requirements related to LIB recycling will also be highlighted. The panel will also include a high-level discussion of risk management, liability protection and international pressures.
