If there was ever a constant in the world of landfill air compliance, it would be change. It often seems that the only thing that is certain is that everything keeps changing. With the change in Administration in early 2025, the regulated community is once again waiting to see the impacts at the site level. Updates to the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) are expected based on the time since the last reconsideration of these rules, while states are still implementing the 2021 Emissions Guidelines/ This panel will address the impact changes would have on landfills; updates to AP-42 Section 2.4 for MSW Landfills; the proposed Fugitive Emissions Rule and its impact on landfill permitting; and more. Attendees will leave with a reality check of the potential impacts these changes would have on the future of landfill operations, reporting, and compliance.
