Eric Monsu Lee received his Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is an assistant professor at Northern Illinois University. His research interest stems from studying sorbent injection systems for mercury emissions control at coal-fired power plants. His study involved particle agglomeration in a sorbent injection system under the influence of triboelectric charging. He also studied differential particle collection behaviors between coal fly ash and mercury sorbents in electrostatic precipitators. Currently, his research agenda centers on modernizing electrostatic precipitation to mitigate PM2.5 in indoor spaces while minimizing ozone emissions. Eric received the 2016 A&WMA Dave Benferado Scholarship for Air Pollution Control and Waste Minimization Research.
