Dr. Michael Ring is a senior consultant at Ramboll and has worked in consulting for 11 years. He received a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his thesis research studied the behavior of annular modes in the atmosphere. He also worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his research focused on uncertainty estimates of climate forcings.
Dr. Ring has been employed by Ramboll for over one year and was previously employed at another consultant for over nine years. As a consultant, Dr. Ring has supported a multitude of projects requiring air quality modeling and monitoring. He has used AERMOD extensively to support facilities seeking permits for construction or expansion, and data centers have been among his clients. Dr. Ring has used traditional modeling techniques as well as Monte Carlo analyses to evaluate impacts of data centers versus the NAAQS. He has also utilized the CALPUFF model and has served as a quality assurance officer for many Prevention of Significant Deterioration and State and Local Air Monitoring Stations meteorological and ambient air quality monitoring stations. Dr. Ring has also supported projects in other media requiring environmental data statistical analyses.
Dr. Ring resides in Washington state. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3-year old son, hiking, and playing bridge.
