Graduate Research Assistant
George Mason University, VA
Shreya Guha is a PhD candidate in Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering (CEIE) at George Mason University, on track to graduate in the summer of 2025. Her research, funded by the Health Effects Institute (HEI), focuses on air quality modeling using statistical and machine learning tools to assess the impacts of policy implementations and changing weather patterns on air quality in China. She analyzes and evaluates large datasets from multiple exposure datasets and climate models to identify sources and chemical composition of toxic air pollutants, changes in anthropogenic behavior and policy efficacy aimed in improving human health and reducing mortality. She holds a master's degree in Earth Systems Science from George Mason University and another master's degree in Atmospheric Science from University of Calcutta. Her previous working experience with the Indian government at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has helped her understand the real-life complexities about policy implementations. Having grown up in Kolkata, India—one of the most polluted cities in the world—she is deeply passionate about the right of every person to breathe clean air.
