Dr. Kat Masse is the Director of the newly-formed Ambient Air Division at Apex Instruments in North Carolina. The Ambient Air Division represents two unique air quality products, 1) a customizable multi-pollutant sensor-based system for air quality monitoring, and 2) a field-deployable microscale gas chromatograph for near real-time speciation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Kat earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering at Duke University where she designed and qualified portable analytical chemistry instruments for environmental applications. Previously, Kat taught a graduate-level course on the development and commercialization of sustainable businesses, she’s evaluated the commercial viability of innovative research, and has semiconductor manufacturing experience.
