Tom Easterly Received a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Urban Environmenal Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in FL, IL, IN, NY & PA—Currently Registered in FL & IN.
Tom currently serves (part time) as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Central Florida, teaching Air Pollution Control Design.
Tom retired as the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) in 2015. He was first appointed Commissioner in 2005 and served two Governors.
Tom had an environmental consulting firm from 2002 to the end of 2004
Tom was Manager of Planning and Improvement in the Environmental Affairs Depart of NiSource (an Electric and Gas Utility) from 2000 to 2002
Tom worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Bethlehem, PA from 1987 to 1994 and was the Superintendent of Environmental Services at Bethlehem's Burns Harbor Indiana Facility from 1994 to 2000.
Tom started his environmental enginnering career with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) in 1976 and worked in both the Air and Solid and Hazardous Waste programs until 1987.
Tom also served as the Engineer for a Public Water Supply rehabilitation project for his town in Petersburg, NY,
