Mingming Lu: Professor, Dept. of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Univ. of Cincinnati. She has been an active member of AWMA for more than 20 years, and is currently the chair of the Sustainability and Resource Conservation division. Dr. Lu has more than 20 years of experience in pollutant characterization and waste upcycle. Example of her research projects include air pollutant characterization, air quality measurement with portable devices, investigation of reaction pathways of pollutant formation, making biodiesel and biochar from waste feedstocks, and the destruction of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl) and PFAS (per/poly fluorinated alkyl substances. Her research has been funded by the NSF, the US EPA, NIOSH, Ohio DOT, the Ohio BWC etc. Dr. Lu is passionate about teaching, sustainability, and student mentoring. As a faculty adviser for the UC chapter of AWMA, she promotes her students for the scholarships, the ECi competition and the opportunities to publish and to present their work at the ACE.
