Sebastian is a Graduate Research Assistant at North Carolina State University (NCSU), where he is pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering. He works with Drs. Tongchuan Wei and Andrew Grieshop in the Air Quality Lab within NC State's Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department. His current research focuses on quantifying and assessing emissions from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) ferry fleet, a project initiated by NCDOT in partnership with NCSU and Dr. H. Christopher Frey. In addition, Sebastian serves as a Teaching Assistant for the Air Quality Engineering course at NCSU.
Sebastian's previous experience includes working as a Project Engineer at Hill Consulting, a firm specializing in air quality and climate change projects, from 2020 to 2023. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Colombia, where he worked as a research assistant in the Air Quality Research Group. He has also volunteered in citizen science initiatives, using low-cost pollution monitors to empower communities in Colombia.
