Dr. Raghava R. Kommalapati is the Honeywell Endowed Professor and Director for the National Science Foundation-funded Center for Energy & Environmental Sustainability and a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University system. He joined Prairie View A&M University in 1998 and has been working there since in various roles including as Department Head for Civil & Environmental Engineering.
Raghava obtained his Masters and PhD degrees in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1994 and 1995 respectively. His current areas of research include: energy and environmental impacts; life cycle analysis of different energy technologies; post-combustion carbon capture; air quality modeling and monitoring; treatment of produced water from hydraulic fracking operations using hybrid forward-reverse osmosis membrane systems; remediation of contaminated soils and design and optimization of wind turbine blades. He received grant funding in excess of $11 million over his career. He published one co-edited Book, and 93 peer reviewed publications, including book chapters, journal articles and peer-reviewed conference proceedings and extended abstracts. He and his group presented their work at more than 170 regional, national and international conferences. He is a registered Professional Engineer in both civil and environmental engineering disciplines in Texas, a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
