Mr. Swanson graduated from Stanford University with a B.A.S. His work experience includes environmental engineering and consulting utilizing U.S. EPA Part 60, Appendix A and other reference methods for stack gas analysis. Mr. Swanson’s source sampling experience included development of a test method for isocyanates and implementing the method for certification; stack gas analysis and reference method testing of municipal waste combustors, boilers, thermal oxidizers, gas turbines, hazardous waste combustors, and other sources; baseline emission inventories; data collection, quality assurance training, and testing of CEMS; and combustion efficiency study of multiple gas/coal/sludge-fired boilers and their CEMS.
Mr. Swanson has supervised hundreds of environmental monitoring projects of various scope from CEMS and PEMS quality assurance support and training to turnkey installations of complete continuous emissions monitoring and predictive emissions monitoring systems that have been certified under U.S. EPA Part 60 and Part 75 performance standards. Mr. Swanson has successfully managed over twenty U.S. 40 CFR Part 503 installations, startups, and certifications (most of which were with Horiba Instruments, Inc. of Irvine, California).
Mr. Swanson is the manager of the team that created the SmartCEMS process optimization system and its core components including the SmartCEMS products SmartCEMS75 and SmartCEMS60. Recently, Mr. Swanson supervised the design, implementation, and certification of SmartCEMS75 at several sites under U.S. EPA 40 CFR Part 75, Subpart E.
