Sierra Smith (B.S. in Biology with Honors in Research from Pepperdine University) is the Director of Research and Development at Perca, Inc., where she leads research initiatives focused on advancing the biological mechanisms and optimization of the Perca vermifiltration system for the removal of specific contaminants from wastewater effluent. Sierra is a sustainability research scientist with a strong background in freshwater ecology, water recycling, and applied research and development. Her work has primarily centered on the impacts of climate change and pollution on freshwater ecosystems, with a focus on conservation and sustainability. She has contributed to numerous studies published in prominent ecological journals. In addition to her ecological research, Sierra has extensive experience in sustainable product development and the strategic integration of environmentally-focused innovations into emerging markets.
