Abstract Description: Ambient particulate monitoring continues to be critical for PM10 and PM2.5 due to pressing requirements to reduce these pollutants in the environment and to align with health-based standards for fine particles. Governments worldwide are implementing measures to monitor and mitigate particulate pollution, promoting environmental justice within their communities. Accurate and real-time monitoring is crucial, necessitating the use of advanced air monitoring technologies, and these technologies must meet stringent measurement requirements and provide reliable data for critical decision-making.
Implementing air quality standards requires strong collaborations among regional, national, and tribal air monitoring agencies, supported by robust ecosystems of metrology and instrumentation. This poster will explore the various criteria for selecting air monitoring technologies, including regulatory compliance, specific monitoring needs, location considerations, instrument maintenance, and budgetary constraints.
